Recall to prison
In the event of a person serving a life licence being recalled to prison, the Parole Board must consider whether it is necessary for the protection of the public that the person should continue to be confined.
The latest data shows that in 2024/25 the Parole Board considered 64 cases where the person had allegedly breached the conditions of their life licence or whose behaviour was giving cause for concern. Of these, 40 people were recalled to custody and 21 were issued warning letters.
Of the 5 OLR prisoners who were considered for recall, 4 were recalled to custody and 1 was issued a warning letter.
