Restriction of Liberty Orders (RLO)
If an RLO is successfully completed, this is the end of the sentence for the person.

If the conditions of the RLO are not complied with, a breach will be submitted to court.
Community Payback Orders (CPO)
If the conditions of the CPO are successfully completed, this is the end of the sentence for the person.
The latest data shows that in 2023/24 there were 9,264 CPOs successfully completed in Scotland. You can find more information in “Criminal Justice Social Work Statistics in Scotland: 2023/24” here.
If the conditions of the CPO are not complied with, a breach will be submitted to court.
The latest data shows that in 2023/24 the following reasons were recorded for unsuccessful completion of CPOs:
- 1,242 revoked due to review
- 2,103 revoked due to breach
- 478 transferred out of area
- 292 deaths
- 363 other
Also in 2023/24, there were 3,711 breach applications for CPOs.

Drug Treatment and Testing Orders (DTTO)
If the conditions of the DTTO are successfully completed, this is the end of the sentence for the person.
The latest data shows that in 2022/23 there were 153 DTTOs successfully completed in Scotland. You can find more information in the “Justice Social Work Statistics in Scotland: 2023/24” here.
If the conditions of the DTTO are not complied with, a breach will be submitted to court.
The latest data shows that in 2023/24 the following reasons were recorded for unsuccessful completion of DTTOs:
- 72 revoked due to review
- 42 revoked due to breach
- 5 transferred out of area
- 12 deaths
- 23 other

Compensation Order
If the conditions of the Compensation Order are successfully completed, this is the end of the sentence for the person.
If the conditions of the Compensation Order are not complied with, a breach will be submitted to court.
Fine
If the conditions of the Fine are successfully completed, this is the end of the sentence for the person.
If the conditions of the fine are not complied with, a breach will be submitted to court.
Deferred Sentence
If the conditions of the Deferred Sentence are successfully completed, this will be taken into account when the final sentencing decision is made.

Structured Deferred Sentence

Sexual Harm Prevention Orders (SHPO)
If the conditions of the SHPO are successfully completed, this is the end of the sentence for the person.
