Fiscal Warning
The Procurator Fiscal may decide to give a person either a written or personal warning. Once this has happened the person cannot be prosecuted for the offence.
The most recent data shows that in 2023/24 there were 2,531 Fiscal Warning letters issued in Scotland, a decrease from 3,249 in 2022/23.
