New Routes – intensive service for males being released out of prison. Service run by Wisegroup with Apex, Sacro, and Turning Point. Was for under 26’s but currently working with all ages.

Steps is an ESF funded service that assists those who have multiple barriers to employment or who are long term unemployed. Our objective is for each individual to complete their action plan by moving into employment, training, more advanced qualifications or progression to stage 3 providers on the Employability Pipeline.

New Routes provides offenders with specialist one-to-one support through mentoring, while promoting strong partnerships between other organisations. Our customers are supported by Apex mentors for six months before release, and again post liberation as they reintegrate back into the community.

Perth and Kinross Independent Advocacy

Perth and Kinross Independent Advocacy aims to help people by supporting them to express their own needs and make their own informed decisions. Independent advocates support people to gain access to information and explore and understand their options.

They speak on behalf of people who are unable to speak for themselves or choose not to do so. They safeguard people who are vulnerable or discriminated against or whom services find difficult to support.

Perth and Kinross YMCA, Princes Trust Programme Team

The Princes Trust team programme has been changing the lives of young people across the UK for over 20 years. The 12-week personal development programme gives young people a wide variety of experiences, skills and qualifications to prepare them for the next steps in life.

Young people join a team of up to 15 participants. A team typically comprises around 12 unemployed people and one to two employed people sponsored by their employers.

During the 12-week programme, them members spends a week away at a residential activity centre, undertake a project based in their local community, complete a work placement, participate in a team challenge and stage a team presentation, during which they recount their experiences.

Hillcrest Futures

Provide a range of services in the areas of physical and learning disabilities, autism and older people.

Further services include supporting positive mental health and wellbeing, homelessness and drug, alcohol and recovery services.

This is done by:

Providing flexible, creative, responsive and person-centred services

Developing and training staff to be the best care providers

Ensuring quality accommodation in the community and;

Assisting to deliver employment and leisure activities to services users.

Work is carried out in people’s homes in the community and in temporary and supporting accommodation providing support from 1 hour a week to 24 hours a day.

For example, concerning alcohol and substance misuse, a range of interventions are offered including:

One-to-one support;

Mutual aid (including SMART and SMART families);

Recovery activities and group;

Harm reduction advice;

Overdose prevention and Naloxone distribution;

Blood Borne Virus testing and treatment; and

Sexual health information and screening.

Depending on identified needs, possible outcomes include positive mental health and wellbeing, reducing homelessness and recovery from drug and alcohol misuse.

Perth Men’s Shed

Perth’s Men’s Shed aims to provide men for all ages and backgrounds with a safe and busy environment in which they can improve their physical, mental and social health, productivity and value to the community through the development of a facility in which men can meet and undertake physical and recreational activities of their choice.

The group now has access to hand tools for both metal and woodwork to undertake various projects and share the skills of the group round. Within the Shed, there are engineers, joiners, administrators and even a nurse. As part of the Shed programme, Speakers present once a month.

Improvements in physical, mental and social health, productivity and value to the community.

The group meets at the North Inch Community Campus on Wednesday nights form 5pm to 8pm or Saturdays 10am to 3pm.

Andy’s Man’s Club

The group is a peer-to-peer support group for men over 18 to help them through life. They are seeking to challenge the stigmas of mental health and to promote suicide prevention across the whole of the UK.

Shine Women’s Mentoring Service

Shine provides a mentor who will provide practical and emotional support and assistance for a minimum of six months. The mentor will work with the client to:

Anchor House, Perth

Anchor House works to help people overcome the causes and consequences of social exclusion, homelessness, poverty, unemployment, health inequality and community disintegration. It is a major provider of support and temporary accommodation services operating in Perthshire.

The aim is to drive forward and develop solutions that take into account the wider social and economic factors which impact on the lives of communities and individuals. The service provision is focused on the individual needing support and is pragmatic at working at sustainable solutions.

The organisation works across agencies in order to pool limited resources and more effectively respond to the problems identified.

The organisation provides floating housing support throughout Perthshire and currently supports around 50 people in their own homes. It also has the Crieff Road Accommodation Unit which is a supported unit for male and female service users.

Turning Point Scotland, Perth and Kinross service

Provides support to adults with complex needs and challenging behaviours. There are three supported projects in Perth with different types of accommodations suited to individual need.

The objective of the service is to manage the risks involved in supporting individual in the community while maximising the opportunities for improving the quality of life and participating in the community. The strength of the service is the partnership working with local agencies like health and social services to ensure the individual can lead as fulfilling and independent as life as possible but in a safe and stable environment.

The aim is to work with individuals to maintain their place in the community instead of remaining in a hospital environment long-term. The main office in Perth has a garden project to promote healthy lifestyles and nutrition and provides opportunities for educational and social activities.

Next Steps, Venture Trust

Next Steps is for women whose backgrounds have led to their involvement in offending or to experience homelessness or misuse of drugs or alcohol which may impact on their wellbeing, relationships and life circumstances.

After an assessment period, individuals are supported to identify the changes they want to make in their lives and develop goals to help achieve them.

During this period, Venture Trust offer regular community based outreach support to identify and mitigate against any barriers prior to offering a 5-day supportive residential based Wilderness Journey usually in the highlands of Scotland.

The Wilderness Journey focusses on supporting individuals to develop the skills and coping strategies to maintain their motivation to implement the changes on their return. Further outreach support back in their local community encourages progression and embedding positive changes.

The programme provides support for up to 9 months helping individuals to make and sustain connections to services and employment, education, training or volunteering opportunities within their communities.

Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre, Perth and Kinross (RASAC P&K)

RASAC P&K offer free and confidential support to anyone who identifies as a woman aged 12+ years and boys aged 12-18 years who has experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives. Through their youth initiative, they also work with young people aged 12-18 across Perth and Kinross delivering a series of prevention workshops in schools and community settings as well as deliver training to professionals.

Mindscape offers 3 key services. These are:

Mindspace Counselling Service – counselling is delivered both in Perth City and at a number of rural locations around Perthshire. The counselling service is open to individuals over 11 years of age.

Mindspace Recovery College is an award winning service that gives anyone in the local community the opportunity to learn more about living with and managing mental health.

There are also sessions life skills, employability skills and supporting others through peer support. This is done working alongside people with lived experience of mental ill health. There is both a young people’s recovery college and an adult recovery college.

Mindspace Peer Support Hub – sees peer support workers trained through the SQA accredited Mental Health Peer Support Professional Development Aware. They use their lived experience to provide one to one support to individuals experiencing mental health difficulties to enhance personal growth and promote hope, confidence, life skills, connections and independence within the community.

The SSAFA CVJS Support Service is committed to giving veterans and their families a service that delivers. Our aim is to ensure that we offer a recognised and consistent service nationwide whilst meeting our five strategic objectives: effective support, awareness and understanding, sustainable resource, and collaborative working.

The service has a positive approach and supports all of the Armed Forces community, no matter what the circumstances. The Armed Forces community includes all serving and ex-serving personnel from the Army, Royal Navy, Royal Marine, Royal Air Force whether regular or reservist, national service and families.

A network of in-reach volunteers provides advice and information – not only those in custody, on probation or in the community, but also their families. The support offered is non-judgemental and holistic and includes:

The foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in the local area. The Perth foodbank is part of The Trussell Trust’s network of 428 foodbanks working to tackle food poverty and hunger in local communities, as well as across the UK.

Referrals are made only by referral agencies who will issue a foodbank voucher which can be exchanged for a parcel of three days of emergency food.

Phone referrals are being accepted from existing agencies as are red vouchers. Examples of referral agencies include Social Work Services, Citizen’s Advice, children’s centres and health visitors.

If someone is in need of food support, but has no access to a voucher, they should phone Perth & Kinross Council Community Support hotline: 0345 30 111 00 – for advice and/or a voucher.

SMART Recovery Programme

SMART recovery helps individuals recover from any addictive behaviour and lead meaningful and satisfying lives. It does this by using a science based therapeutic programme of training.

Through a partnership scheme, they work with most medium to large treatment providers across the UK as well as prisons, probation, rehab facilities, NHS and supported housing services.
SMART Recovery Champions have helped to grow peer led SMART Recovery meetings, which in turn have helped their service users sustain the recovery gains they achieve within treatment services.

The 4-point programme is the foundation and building blocks of SMART. Many of the tools and techniques can be used not only for the recovery journey, but to help deal with future problems and achieve more satisfaction and balance in life.

The four points are: building and maintaining motivation; coping with urges; managing thoughts, feelings and behaviours and living a balanced life.

SMART Family and Friends Programme

SMART recovery helps individuals recover from any addictive behaviour and lead meaningful and satisfying lives. It does this by using a science based therapeutic programme of training.

Through a partnership scheme, they work with most medium to large treatment providers across the UK as well as prisons, probation, rehab facilities, NHS and supported housing services. SMART Recovery Champions have helped to grow peer led SMART Recovery meetings, which in turn have helped their service users sustain the recovery gains they achieve within treatment services.

The SMART Family and Friends Programme (F & F) has used the four key points of SMART Recovery and adapted these to suit the needs of family and friends of people with a drug and/or alcohol addiction. Rather than focussing on the loved one, the F & F Programme invites participants to spend time concentrating on themselves and their goals, an area they may have been neglecting for some time.

The F & F programme explores ways participants can look after themselves better; even in difficult and stressful circumstances, and establish healthier relationships with their loved one. Taking steps to make changes in life requires considerable courage. Participating in a supportive environment, comprised if people sharing similar experiences, will hopefully lessen feelings of isolation and instill a sense of hope.

Topics covered include change and motivation; self-care and self-rewards; positive communication, healthy boundaries, safety and support, disable the enabling and trust and forgiveness.

Phoenix Futures Scotland

Phoenix Futures are a charity and housing association which helps people overcome drug and alcohol problems. They provide residential, prison, community and specialist services.

Drug and alcohol support workers use therapeutic practices to help those with substance misuse issues to look at the root of their problems and make positive changes. Through the Phoenix Plus model, they provide support in housing, family relationships, community engagement, and education and employability.

Perthshire Women’s Aid is a charity supporting women, children and young people who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse, operating throughout Perthshire. They provide confidential support, information and access to temporary accommodation.

Support is provided in a non-judgmental, friendly, kind way whether you are still in a relationship or experiencing difficulties now the relationship has ended. We support anyone who identifies as a woman and support is provided either face to face at premises, over the phone, or by arranging a confidential visit at a place of choice.

Emotional support. Practical support such as help with safety planning, money, housing or benefits; improved mental health and wellbeing; improved self-esteem and confidence.

Support can be accessed on a self-referral basis or via referral from an agency.

Perth and Kinross ADHD Support Group (ADHD+)

Perth and Kinross ADHD+ is a registered charity which was set up in 2003 to provide help, support, information and services to children, young people and families suffering from, or dealing with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and other social, emotional and behavioural disorders. It is the only organisation in Perth and Kinross who offers in-depth and continuous specialised services for ADHD.Services include a Duke of Edinburgh Youth Group, Befriending, Family Worker, monthly parent support group meetings and parenting classes.
