Community Justice Outcome Activity Annual Report 2019-2020

INSIGHT | 24th March 2021

We are pleased to introduce the third annual report on community justice outcome activity across Scotland for the period 2019-20.

This report covers progress in the year before the pandemic impacted every aspect of life in Scotland. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Community Justice Partnerships (CJPs) for providing a vast array of information and data on which to base our assessment during this difficult year. We are particularly pleased to include a number of practice examples and life stories which illustrate how community justice services are being delivered with dedication and compassion with positive and long-lasting impact for people.

Overall, we consider that progress is being made towards achieving national and local outcomes for community justice in Scotland. However, it is not possible for CJS to provide an accurate assessment of the extent of that progress. This report sets out a number of recommendations for CJPs, CJS and the Scottish Government which, when realised, will support a more definitive assessment being made. The improvement activity that arises from these recommendations, and progress against these, will be reported on in next year’s report.
