The mental treatment requirement is rarely used in Fife, and indeed Scotland, due to the very specific wording of the legislation. Cases with mental health treatment requirements have been facilitated by the Community Forensic Mental Health Team. The Women’s Justice Team has access to a Community Psychiatric Nurse, Clinical psychologist and psychology assistant and psychologist based within their team from a specific funding stream.

Possible Outcomes

The individual would be able to access therapeutic mental health interventions to treat mental ill health or broader psychological issues.

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

The individual would require a specific assessment by a specified mental health professional who would then over see that requirement of the Order.
