Free, impartial advice and support on Housing, Benefits, and Debt issues. CHAP is an independent charity providing free, confidential and impartial advice and support to people across Ayrshire. For more than 25 years, our fully accredited service has helped individuals and families overcome financial, housing and welfare challenges by delivering high-quality advice that empowers people to make informed decisions and improve their circumstances. Our experienced advisers provide support with welfare rights and benefits, debt and money advice, housing and homelessness issues, and assistance for homeowners at risk of losing their homes through our Ayrshire Homelessness and Prevention (AHAP) service. Our aim is to reduce poverty, prevent homelessness, improve financial resilience and support people to live independently within their communities. We take a holistic, person-centred approach, recognising that many people face multiple, interconnected challenges. By working collaboratively with statutory agencies, third sector organisations and community partners, we help individuals access the right support at the right time, reduce inequalities and achieve sustainable, long-term outcomes. Through early intervention, advocacy and practical advice, CHAP supports people to build brighter futures while contributing to stronger, more resilient communities.

Further Information:
CHAP welcomes referrals from organisations supporting people who are experiencing financial hardship, housing difficulties or welfare issues, including individuals involved with the justice system. We recognise that challenges such as debt, homelessness, poor mental wellbeing and financial exclusion are often interconnected, so our advisers take a holistic approach to identifying needs and providing tailored support. Our service is free, independent and confidential. We work closely with local authorities, housing providers, health services and third sector organisations to help people access the advice, support and opportunities they need to achieve positive, sustainable outcomes. Wherever possible, we aim to intervene early to prevent problems from escalating, reduce the risk of crisis and help people build long-term financial stability and independence. By addressing the underlying causes of financial and housing insecurity, CHAP helps individuals improve their wellbeing, maintain or secure accommodation, maximise their income and move forward with confidence.
