Reported to Police

The most recent data shows that 1,151,130 incidents were reported to Police Scotland during the period to the end of 2024/25 Q3. Of these:

  • 202,789 were anti-social behaviour incidents reported by members of the public
  • 29,120 were assault-related incidents
  • 60,924 related to theft
  • 9,993 related to housebreaking
  • 148,743 were transport-related incidents

The Scottish Crime and Justice Survey estimated that only around 29% of property and violent crime was reported to the police in 2021/22. This is at the lowest level since 2008/09. Further information on reporting rates and reasons behind non-reporting can be found in the report, here.
