Stephen's role

Stevie is one of the National Trainers and Advisors for the Caledonian System; Scotland’s accredited domestic abuse perpetrator programme with integrated women and children’s support services.

Stevie’s role involves the co-designing and delivery of all relevant training for the Caledonian System, whilst also being involved in the development of the manuals and guidance to support the national delivery. His role also involves providing ongoing expert advice to the Local Authorities in Scotland who deliver the Caledonian System.

Background

Stevie started his career completing a BA (hons) in Psychology at the University of Stirling. Through this he managed to gain a research assistant post in exploring improving facial composite construction and identification rates. He then completed his MSc in Forensic Psychology at the University of Coventry.

Following graduation, he gained employment as a Psychologist, working in HMP Peterhead, HMP Edinburgh and HMP Grampian before moving to the community to deliver sex offender treatment and became involved in delivery of the Caledonian system.

Through these various roles, Stevie delivered and supervised various groupwork and individual interventions across different client groups. He has been involved in completing risk assessments and supporting staff development. Stevie has trained new prison staff in prison based interventions and when he moved to the community, he started delivering courses with Community Justice Scotland in 2022 before taking up his current role as Caledonian National Trainer and Advisor in 2025.
