Borders in Recovery – Recovery Community Support

Aim/Purpose:

RCS, in partnership with local services, has successfully established and expanded a network of peer-led recovery cafes across the Borders, including Galashiels, Hawick, Peebles, and Eyemouth. Complementing these community cafes, we have introduced SMART recovery groups in Peebles and Galashiels, a music group, a weekend breakfast club, and various other recovery activities, along with participation in several national recovery events. Operating six days a week, we provide comprehensive support to our community. We provide 1:1 support to clients working with the Justice Social Work team in the Scottish Borders via a dedicated Recovery Coach.

Suitability criteria:

  • All genders
  • Middle-aged adult (36-55), Older adult (56 and older), Young adult (18-35)

Exclusions:

The wider Recovery Community support families and as such is not suitable for people on the sex offenders register.

Assessment/referral process:

  • Any agency, Court, GP, Health professional, Self-referral, Social work

For 1:1 Support clients must already be engaged with the Justice Social Work Team. For Recovery Community Support, Recovery Cafes, SMART Recovery Groups and Events there is no referral process, just come along to our venues or reach out and we can arrange to accompany you along to our events.
