Where the order contains a drug treatment requirement an individual must submit to treatment by or under the direction of a specified person with a view to reducing or eliminating the offender’s dependency on, or propensity to misuse, drugs.

Suitability is assessed within Justice Social Work Reports. A Community Payback Order Drug Treatment Requirement is a higher tariff disposal, requiring an addiction service assessment as to appropriateness for intervention and planned service provision. Lower tariff problematic drug use requiring counselling will be managed through the supervision requirement.
