Aim/Purpose:

RASAC P&K’s purpose is to provide support, information and justice advocacy services to anyone who identifies as a woman over the age of 18, and young people age 12-18, who have experienced rape or sexual abuse at any time in their lives.

Through the provision of consistent, timely and survivor-centred support and prevention services, we seek to improve wellbeing through our work which is based on human rights, strengthening communities, and supporting positive outcomes in the aftermath of trauma.

RASAC P&K aims to advance education among professionals and the general public about the causes, nature, prevalence and effects of sexual violence and other forms of VAWG through the provision of prevention activities including training, campaigning, and awareness raising activities.

RASAC Youth Initiative aims to prevent sexual violence through the delivery of a sexual violence prevention programme across Perth & Kinross secondary schools and other youth settings.

Assessment/referral process:

  • Any agency, Self-referral

Young People age 12-18. Anyone who identifies as a woman age 19+. For anyone affected by sexual violence (survivors / family / friends). Self-referral or referral by other agency / service or GP.

The main aims and activities are:

  • Improving Access to Support and Supporting Survivors: – Support is offered for 12 sessions initially (3 for crisis support) and can take place in person, via telephone, email, or online (zoom)
  • Groupwork programme
  • Justice Advocacy Service
  • Support and information for partners, families and friends of survivors
  • Dedicated Young People and Families Project provides support to young survivors 12+ and their caregivers
  • Helpline with 24 hour answering machine
  • Advancing Education Among Professionals and the General Public about the Causes, Nature, Prevalence and Effects of Sexual Violence and other forms of VAWG
  • Multi-agency training – Tailored workshops / training – General and targeted awareness raising activities
  • Campaigning Preventing Sexual Violence and Promoting Gender Justice
  • RASAC Youth Initiative (RYI): – Age-appropriate sexual violence prevention workshops to young people age 12+ across a range of P&K educational and community settings.
  • RASAC Youth Ambassador Programme, peer mentoring programme creating opportunities for young people age 14+ to be involved in activism and contributing to the design and delivery of RASAC P&K’s prevention work
