A Bail Supervision scheme has been in place for many years and is used by the local Court. Electronic Bail Supervision is expected to be available from May 2022.

Possible Outcomes

This disposal helps to avoid unnecessary remands and assists individuals to address any issues which have been identified, such as substance misuse or mental health difficulties. It can also prevent loss of or disruption to employment and family life as a consequence of remand.

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

Prior to the individual presenting before the Court, at first calling of the case the Criminal Justice Social Work staff member undertakes an assessment and presents this to the PF (Procurator Fiscal) and Sheriff for consideration if deemed an appropriate/suitable option.
