Aim/Purpose:

The Advocacy Project offers free, independent support to people affected by decisions involving health and social care. We can help you to have more choice and control in the decisions about your life.

The Advocacy Project provide a free and confidential service that is independent of the NHS and Social Work. Independent advocacy can benefit those living at home, in care or in hospital. Our advocacy workers work with a number of clients, usually on a one to one basis, but we also support groups of people who have issues in common.

Suitability criteria:

  • All genders
  • All ages

Assessment/referral process:

  • Any agency, Self-referral

You are eligible for this service if you:

  • Are an older person (65 or over)
  • Are a younger adult (16-64) affected by disability
  • Are resident in East Renfrewshire when the referral is made
  • People affected by the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 have a legal right to independent advocacy
