Aim/Purpose:

Peer support is provided by a Lived Experience Peer Mentor. Ideas for group activities which benefit not only the individuals involved but also the wider community come from those involved in the Amazing Futures Groups. As part of this feedback is gathered to try and shape and influence future service delivery as people go through their justice journey. Additional funding was also secured to support the family and friends of those in prison as well as the individual about to be released. This project aims to: – Improve visitors experiences and family contact. – Support families who may not have visited the prison before. – Independent advice, information and signposting. – Provision of services to meet the needs of children and young people visiting HMP Dumfries both at the prison and at the Summerhill Community Hub.

Further Information:

Amazing Futures Peer Support is available to anyone with lived/living experience of justice services/system. The Peer Mentor works from the Summerhill Community Hub as well as CPO building in Kings Street, Dumfries. Summerhill Community Centre is a registered Charity with a Community Learning and Development commitment to improve the conditions of life and relief of poverty for all ages in the wider community. Opportunities include Personal development in Education, Recreation, Sport, Health & Wellbeing, Social gatherings and Environmental activities. The community hub offers a food hub, community shop, older people services, youth projects and environmental action as well as Amazing Futures.
