CJSW work in partnership with colleagues from the Alcohol and Drugs
Recovery Service to tailor and deliver interventions that meet addiction needs.
Structured Deferred Sentence offers should be made only after a full assessment.

Possible Outcomes

To provide an opportunity for individuals to stabilise their circumstances and motivation and ability to comply with a period of statutory supervision.
a) For individuals to have a better understanding of the reasons behind their offending.
b) To offer support on any root causes, adopting a public health model.
c) To reduce reoffending

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

A comprehensive assessment of people’s suitability is undertaken during the preparation of the Criminal Justice Social Work Report.

Where no specific scheme/intervention is available, is there capacity to provide a bespoke service based on judicial request?

A person-centred plan will be developed for each individual.
