People who have a mental health diagnosis.

Programme Title and Provider

Treatment: mental health

Details of all Specific national or local scheme/intervention(s) available

Criminal Justice Social Work will make an assessment in partnership with colleagues from the Community Mental Health Team to deliver interventions that meet mental health treatment needs. Requirements of this nature should be made only after full assessment.

Possible Outcomes

1. For individuals to have a better understanding of the reasons behind their offending.
2. To offer support on any root causes, adopting a public health model.
3. To reduce reoffending.

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

A comprehensive assessment of people’s suitability is undertaken during the preparation of the Criminal Justice Social Work Report. In addition, a specialist assessment will also be undertaken by the Community Mental Health Team. In view of this, a period of deferment may be required in order to allow sufficient time for this specialist assessment.

Where no specific scheme/intervention is available, is there capacity to provide a bespoke service based on judicial request?

A person-centred plan will be developed for each individual.
