Programme Title and Provider

Treatment: Alcohol

Details of all Specific national or local scheme/intervention(s) available

CJSW work in partnership with colleagues from the Alcohol and Drugs
Recovery Service to deliver interventions that meet addiction needs.
Requirements of this nature should be made only after a full assessment.

Possible Outcomes

1. For individuals to have a better understanding of the reasons behind their offending.
2. To offer support on any root causes, adopting a public health model.
3. To reduce reoffending.

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

A comprehensive assessment of people’s suitability is undertaken during the preparation of the Criminal Justice Social Work Report. In addition, a specialist assessment will also be undertaken by the Alcohol and Drugs Recovery Service. In view of this, a six week period of deferment may be required to complete the specialist assessment. However, if the person is already known and engaged with services, a period of deferment may not be required.

Where no specific scheme/intervention is available, is there capacity to provide a bespoke service based on judicial request?

A person-centred plan will be developed for each individual.
