All where offending is related to drug use

Drug Court

Multidisciplinary team enabling intensive assessment and supervision to reduce drug dependency and related offending behaviour.

Possible Outcomes

Rapid access to treatment, stabilisation and reduction of illicit substance use, reduction in reoffending. Other outcomes are also achieved in order to meet individual needs and create stability.

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

There are dedicated Sheriffs who have jurisdiction over the community based treatment orders made in the Drug Court, and good knowledge of the interventions and successes.

All where offending is related to alcohol use

Programme title and provider

Alcohol Court

A problem-solving court approach

Possible Outcomes

A reduction in alcohol use and reoffending, and support to achieve stability, ensuring the conditions to avoid future offending.

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

A dedicated Sheriff has jurisdiction and knowledge of the successes of the drug court upon which the model is based.

Interventions suitable for

All up to age 21

Programme title and provider

Youth Court

A problem-solving court approach to summary cases for people aged up to 21 at time of offence, or 25 where concerns are noted.

Possible Outcomes

Early intervention to reduce future reoffending, providing support in all areas identified through assessment, addressing any underlying issues which may have had lead to offending.

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

All criminal justice social work reports for young people 21 and under, consider the youth court as a sentencing option.

Positive Outcomes Project

A partnership with SW addictions, Police Scotland, recovery co-ordinator taking an effective and assertive outreach approach to work with the individuals who are involved in persistent offending and alcohol and/or drug use.

Possible Outcomes

Reduced offending and substance use, improved housing, welfare, health and wellbeing outcomes, improved relationships and wider community benefits.

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

Individuals are identified vis police and social work data systems and the team approach them the support they need to change offending behaviour.

Recreate

A Glasgow City Council initiative that provides opportunity to volunteer for up to six months in meaningful roles.

Possible Outcomes

Community and environmental improvements, as well as improved employability and wellbeing outcomes for individuals.

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

People are offered the opportunity to take up a place on Recreate on completion of their Community Payback Order.

Tomorrow’s Women Glasgow

A multidisciplinary women’s justice centre for women in Glasgow involved in offending and with complex needs.

Possible Outcomes

Reduced offending, improved physical and mental health and self-esteem, improved housing, welfare and employability outcomes, family reconciliation and community reintegration.

Referral by Criminal Justice Social Work Report, some self-referral.
