Structured Deferred Sentence

Details of all Specific national or local scheme/intervention(s) available

Structured deferred sentence is utilised to provide social work support to individuals who may need a short term intervention to address needs but who do not require the level of supervision of a Community Payback Order.

Support offered is based on assessed risk and needs and a case management plan will be included in the Criminal Justice Social Work Report. Referrals are made to commissioned or universal services dependent on needs.

Possible Outcomes

Support will be provided to address identified areas of risk/needs as per the identified case management plan with a view to informing sentencing at the end of the deferral period.

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

Assessment for suitability is carried out by Justice Service social workers via a Criminal Justice Social Work Report.
