Aim/Purpose:
CHAP provides free, impartial, and confidential advice and advocacy services, supporting individuals and families with complex issues relating to benefits, housing, and debt. Our specialist services are accredited under the Scottish National Standards for Information and Advice Providers (SNSIAP) to provide advice and advocacy up to Type III, enabling the organisation to provide in-depth casework and representation across welfare rights, housing, and debt matters. This includes court/tribunal representation, homelessness advocacy, complex benefit challenges, and multi-creditor debt negotiation. CHAP is also authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) for debt advice and works in line with FCA Consumer Duty requirements. This ensures services are delivered with strong oversight, clear quality standards, and a consistent focus providing fair value and delivering good outcomes for clients, particularly those experiencing vulnerability.
