Nathalie Lane

Nathalie's role

Nathalie’s role in CJS involves developing and delivering national improvement projects to drive positive change in community justice.

Background

Nathalie has a background in justice and public safety, beginning in Canada where she worked in the public service across the court and correctional systems. Her early work in family law project management, and later in offender data management and research, shaped her interest in evidence-based practice, best-practice development, and improving outcomes for marginalised service users in the justice system. These experiences deepened her commitment to understanding how justice systems operate in practice, and how they can be improved to better serve the people within them.

After moving to Scotland to pursue further study with an MSc in Criminology & Criminal Justice at the University of Edinburgh’s School of Law, she deepened her focus on the intersections between policy, law, and lived experience, focusing on sexual offending, and violence against women and girls. She has since honed her expertise in policy, legislation, and parliamentary process through her work at the Scottish Parliament. In this fast-paced environment, she has contributed to research, analysis, and policy development, ensuring that evidence, community perspectives, and real-world implications remain central to decision-making.
