Aim/Purpose:

Increased self-esteem, reduction in risk of reoffending.

Suitability criteria:

  • All genders
  • All ages

Exclusions:

Case by case assessment – quite physical programme so some aspects may not be suitable for individuals with physical impairments.

Assessment/referral process:

  • Social work

Individuals aged 16+ who have been convicted of an offence and made subject to a Community Payback Order with Supervision Requirement. Identification of suitable individuals at the JSWR stage and discussions between the individual, Justice Supervising Officer and Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, followed by Referral once CPO made.

This programme has been devised by the local Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, and offers a four day course for offenders and others the opportunity to work as part of a team to learn new skills, increase self-esteem and achieve their full potential, and benefit the community by increasing employability through acquiring new skills.
