Can be a Licence or order intervention, delivered locally by Borders, Community Mental Health Teams. (Statutory Health and Social Care Integration).

Possible Outcomes

Statutory requirement involving participation in treatment including care and support to improve their mental health that contributed to the offending behaviour. Life chances, personal resilience and self-management should improve.

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

Identified need via assessment: Criminal Justice Court Report, GP and or other medical service.
Service user self reporting.
Court request.

Where no specific scheme/intervention is available, is there capacity to provide a bespoke service based on judicial request?

No. General referral to GP.
Forensic mental health services are not readily available for Justice Social Work to refer into in the Borders. Any bespoke service would require to be discussed with NHS Borders on a case by case basis, and possibly with external health authorities and providers.
