Structured Deferred Sentence

Interventions suitable for

Post-conviction and prior to final sentencing as part of a deferred sentence to provide a relatively short period of focused intervention with the specific objectives of building capacity to change, reducing offending and avoiding, where appropriate, statutory orders.

This is assessed as part of a Criminal Justice Social Work Report. Delivered in accordance with SG National Guidance (2020), this targets lower risk offenders that do not require to be on a Community Payback Order. The period of intervention is normally 3 or 6 months during which time the individual will complete an action plan relating to why they offend.
