East Renfrewshire Council Housing Options and Homelessness Service

Last updated: 27th June 2024

Support Type:

Statutory

Need supported:

  • Accommodation / Homelessness

Aim/Purpose:

Provision of suitable housing options advice for those who are at risk of homelessness. If you reside in East Renfrewshire and are at risk of homelessness we can arrange a housing options discussion, either in our offices or on the telephone, whichever you prefer. During the discussion, we will provide you with a range of information and advice depending on your individual circumstances, to help you stay in your current accommodation or move to alternative accommodation. Our aim is to provide you with all of the advice and information you need to help you make an informed choice about the option or options that are right for you. If you are at risk of losing your current home, we will assist you where possible to stay or delay leaving, e.g. by negotiating with your landlord or lender on your behalf and in getting specialist advice if you need it. We can also make referrals on your behalf to other agencies who may be able to assist. If we are unable to help you to keep your existing home, we will assist you in making a homeless application and provide you with temporary accommodation if you have nowhere to stay.

Suitability criteria:

  • All genders
  • All ages

Assessment/referral process:

  • Self-referral

Anyone over the age of 16 can approach for Housing Options or Homelessness assistance or apply to our Housing Waiting list (with the exception of some households as determined by Immigration legislation) .
