Aim/Purpose:
The Aberdeenshire Mental Health Improvement and Wellbeing Service aims to provide quicker access to mental health and wellbeing services. The service is staffed by a team of qualified and trained professionals, including Wellbeing Workers, Senior Workers and a Team Manager. The team can provide help and support for a range of issues – for example, improving mood and wellbeing, support with relationship or family issues, support with work stress, or developing coping strategies and help managing symptoms. People can refer themselves in to the service to access up to 6 weeks of dedicated, one-to-one support from one of the team. The team may also help with referrals to other services that are better suited to the person’s needs, if they require ongoing and longer-term support.
Suitability criteria:
- All genders
- Middle-aged adult (36-55), Older adult (56 and older), Young adult (18-35)
Exclusions:
This service is only available to Aberdeenshire residents over the age of 16 years. The service can not accept self-referrals for anyone who is already getting care or support from Secondary Care Services, such as Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work or Community Psychiatric Nursing.

A member of the team will contact you and do an assessment to see how best the team can support you. The service we provide will be based on what you want support with. We may work with you over a short period of time to help you feel more in control. We may get you a referral to a service which is better suited to you if you need ongoing and longer-term support.
