Interventions suitable for
Individuals aged 16+ who are engaged in Recovery from Alcohol/Substance use issues and extends to family members affected by a loved one’s alcohol/substance use and trauma.
Programme Title and Provider

STAR: Service for Trauma, Addiction and Recovery
Details of all Specific national or local scheme/intervention(s) available
STAR is aimed at providing intensive specialised counselling for those in recovery who may have experienced Trauma which is interrupting their recovery journey; It also provides this service to family members who have been affected or have experienced Trauma through a loved one’s addiction issues.
STAR provides:
- Individualised goal setting plan
- One to one specialist counselling
- Emotional Freedom Technique
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
- Group work sessions
- Group Programmes
- Referral onwards to other specialist interventions
Possible Outcomes
- Improved access: people who have substance misuse issues will have improved access to specialist trauma therapy
- Improved mental health and wellbeing
- Improvements in personal functioning: an increase in confidence, sense of self-worth, coping skills and functioning
- Reductions of symptoms: such as anxiety, low mood and risk
Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention
Referral Route: Self-referral or referral by any agency. Assessment is undertaken to determine suitability to the project.

- Adults with mental health issues, anxiety, phobias, OCD etc.
- relationship difficulties
- alcohol / substances issues / addiction issues, e.g., shopping, gambling
- trauma
- financial difficulties
- employment related issues
- bereavement and loss
- lack of coping skills
- and other issues which are interrupting the persons wellbeing

Liber8s counselling service provides:

- Person Centred Counselling
- CBT: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
- CBT: Group work sessions
- CBT: Group Programmes
- Referral onwards to other specialist interventions

- Improved self-knowledge, and clarity of mind
- Increased self-awareness, understanding of self and others
- Improved functioning, self-esteem and confidence

GOTO Project

GOTO is an early intervention, evidence based, blended, community wellness service carefully designed to address the issues that cause poor mental health in vulnerable young people. The therapeutic element of GOTO includes:
- One to one counselling
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- CBT Groupwork Programme (Anxiety / Stress /Depression)
- Psychological Therapies
Possible Outcomes
- Improved physical and mental health and wellbeing
- Improved functioning, self-esteem and confidence
- Increased clarity of direction and goal setting and goal achievement
- Reduction in symptoms and risk such as anxiety, low mood
