Structured Deferred Sentence (Right Track)
Interventions suitable for
Offenders aged 16-26 years old who have been breached for non-compliance and/ or repeat offenders at risk of a Community Payback Ordeer who have identified needs which may best be met with more intensive/ practical involvement over a six month period.

The aim of the Right Track 16-26 programme is to engage with 16–26-year-old offenders in a six month Structured Deferred Sentence programme with the aim of stabilising their lifestyle, reducing their offending and thus mitigating a potential custodial sentence. The programme requires offenders:
To attend individual meetings with the Supervising Officer in order to discuss, identify and address their criminogenic needs.
To attend and participate in Weekly Group Sessions with other young offenders, at which information from a number of partner agencies is presented.
To attend and participate in a weekly ‘Work Project’ which is aimed at preparing young people for future Unpaid Work Requirements required by the court.
These projects can involve:
Graffiti Removing
Community Projects
Litter Picking
Gardening
To attend timeously, behave appropriately and participate actively in the programme at all times
Possible Outcomes
The programme outcomes are to:
Break the cycle of offending
Address any identifiable criminogenic needs and/or assist with any welfare issues, which may be attributed to their offending behaviour
Receive a mitigated sentence/outcome or possible admonishment on their return to court at the end of the Programme.
Success for the client will be:
To break their cycle of offending
To help them to recognise the consequences of their actions
Put a strategy in place which will give them the opportunity to turn their lives around
To take action ‘before it is too late’
To live a more stable and pro-social lifestyle
Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention
