This is an Intensive intervention delivered in partnership between Criminal Justice Social Work and the Alcohol and Drugs Recovery Service. It involves twice weekly testing, treatment, counselling and support offered. Regular reviews to court are also provided.
Possible Outcomes
1. For individuals to have a better understanding of the reasons behind their offending.
2. To offer support on any root causes, adopting a public health model.
3. To reduce reoffending.
Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention
A comprehensive assessment of people’s suitability is undertaken during the preparation of the Criminal Justice Social Work Report. In addition, a specialist assessment will also be undertaken by the Alcohol and Drugs Recovery Service. In view of this, a six week period of deferment may be required to complete the specialist assessment.
Where no specific scheme/intervention is available, is there capacity to provide a bespoke service based on judicial request?
A person-centred plan will be developed for each individual.
