YJS can provide an individual, needs-led service now and when group work started this group would also be considered for that intervention.
Possible Outcomes
Support desistance and community reintegration.
Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention
Social Work may make a preference for a deferred sentence because a care plan/support package is already in place, as part of another order.

Currently only available within Youth Justice, the option of Structured Deferred Sentences for adult service users is currently being reviewed and assessed. There is a planned implementation date of March 2023. It is anticipated that SDS will be an additional disposal option available to the Courts. The eligibility criteria and Process Map for use in ELC is currently under development.
Possible Outcomes
Support desistance and community reintegration.
Diversion from Criminal Justice System.
Allow a ‘testing’ period for suitability for CPO as opposed to custodial sentence.
May change depending on local implementation decisions.
