Details of all Specific national or local scheme/intervention(s) available
Bail Supervision is available for those where bail is opposed and they are assessed as suitable. Bail supervision will be delivered by Justice SW and/ or Support workers and will be aimed at addressing individual needs, promoting stability and linking in to services etc. Those subject to Bail Supervision are seen at a minimum in line with National Guidance on Bail Supervision but people with more complex needs will be offered additional support from a Criminal Justice Support Worker in relation to housing, health, drugs/alcohol, benefits etc. They will be referred on or signposted to any other relevant services or supports.
Reduce the number of people remanded in custody, provide appropriate support to individuals in the community, minimising disruption to families, employment and housing, encourage stabilisation in the community so that individuals are more likely to be assessed as suitable for community disposals, support compliance with bail conditions.
Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention
An assessment of suitability will be carried out for those for whom bail is opposed. The request comes from the solicitor or the Court and is occasionally generated by social work if we have been able to obtain information on bail opposed. (The information is not routinely available to Social Work.)
