Individuals aged 16+ who are referred under the Diversion from Prosecution Scheme, or who are subject to Community Payback Order.

Restorative Justice programme; Space2face

Space2face is a restorative justice arts charity and a confidential and independent service that works with people who have been harmed by crime and conflict as well as offenders.

Possible Outcomes

Increased awareness of the effects of offending on victims, and reduction in risk of reoffending.

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

Identification of suitable individuals at the Criminal Justice Social Work Report stage and discussions between the individual, Community Justice Supervising Officer and Space2Face, followed by Referral once a Community Payback Order is made.

Interventions suitable for

Individuals aged 16+ who have been convicted of an offence and made subject to a Community Payback Order with Supervision Requirement.

Programme Title and Provider

Bridgehead Programme from Scottish Fire & Rescue Service

Details of all Specific national or local scheme/intervention(s) available

This programme has been devised by the local Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and offers a four day course for offenders and others the opportunity to work as part of a team to learn new skills, increase self-esteem and achieve their full potential, and benefit the community by increasing employability through acquiring new skills.

Possible Outcomes

Increased self-esteem, reduction in risk of reoffending.

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

Identification of suitable individuals at the Criminal Justice Social Work Report stage and discussions between the individual, CJ Supervising Officer and Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, followed by Referral once a Community Protection Order is made.

Interventions suitable for

Individuals subject to a Community Payback Order with Unpaid Work Requirement.

Programme Title and Provider

Shetland Community Bike Project

Details of all Specific national or local scheme/intervention(s) available

The Shetland Community Bike Project provides placements for individuals who are subject to an Unpaid Work Requirement as part of a Community Protection Order, and who are assessed as suitable for this placement. The Community Bike Project also offers limited paid placements for individuals who are seeking to build on their employability skills, and this can include those who have completed their unpaid work requirement.

Possible Outcomes

This agency offers the opportunity for suitable individuals to complete their unpaid work whilst learning skills in restoring bicycles, which in turn benefits the community in general. It also offers the opportunity of paid placements to those seeking employment but who feel that they need to build on their existing skills in order to maximise their employability.

Process for Assessment and/or inclusion in scheme/intervention

Individuals who are suitable are referred by Criminal Justice Social Work, and a joint assessment then takes place.
